Beloved Pets
Pets are such important members of our families, and portraits help us cherish the time we have with them. Whether your pet is a puppy, an adult, or a senior, they can be the star of their own session or join you for a family portrait.
Unmistakably yours.
The little head tilts, the happy grin, the soulful eyes. Whether your dog is goofy, gentle, curious, or convinced they’re the center of the universe, I want to capture what makes them so wonderfully themselves.
At their own pace.
Sessions are relaxed, unhurried, and planned around your dog’s personality. At my Highland Park studio or a park or beach along Chicago’s North Shore, we’ll make room for exploring, taking breaks, and plenty of encouragement.
The best welcome home.
Our dogs make us smile every day, and that’s worth celebrating. Together, we’ll create portraits that bring the joy, love, and companionship you share into your home.
Testimonials
“I brought my puppy, Lucy, to Julie for her first portrait. Lucy was a bit all over the place. Julie was beyond patient and warm. You can really tell how much love she has for dogs”
– Debbie
“Julie was awesome to work with. She totally captured the special relationship I have with my quirky puppy. She was patient, worked hard, and knew exactly how to bring out his personality. I absolutely love the final images.”
– Richard
“We found Julie on Facebook to capture the spirit of our dog, Rosie. Rosie was very nervous when we walked into the studio but settled down after Julie sat with her for a bit. We loved all the pictures so much we bought a package and a framed picture for our family room.”
– Kathy

Beloved Pets FAQs
-
A little brushing and a walk beforehand can help your dog arrive comfortable and ready to explore. Bring favorite treats and a toy or two—especially a squeaky toy or anything that gets their attention. There’s no need to teach them new tricks or practice posing.
-
That’s completely normal. I don’t expect perfect posing or obedience, and we’ll work at your dog’s pace. I’ll use playful sounds, treats, and a few tricks to catch their attention. Sometimes the best portraits happen when they aren’t looking at the camera at all.
-
We’ll give your dog time to settle in and warm up at their own pace. You know them best, so we’ll work together to help them feel comfortable without forcing anything.
-
It’s all part of photographing dogs. We’ll take breaks, clean up if needed, and carry on. You don’t need to apologize or worry about your dog behaving perfectly.
-
Absolutely. We’ll plan around your dog’s comfort and energy, allowing plenty of time for rest. They don’t need to run, jump, or do anything uncomfortable. If your dog is getting older or isn’t doing well, please reach out to discuss a session that accommodates their needs.
-
Yes! Some of my favorite portraits capture the bond between dogs and the people who love them. Your dog can be the star of the session, or you can join them for photographs together.
-
Yes! Multiple dogs are welcome. Let me know who you’re bringing so we can plan the session around them.
-
Most sessions last about an hour, but we won’t rush. We’ll allow time for your dog to settle in and take breaks as needed.
